Technology Management Solution for Technology Architects & Executives
About
As a company with a big IT department, one of our clients has a big portfolio of supported technologies and applications within their IT organization. We were tasked to visualize them to enable the IT staff and executives to get a “bird’s eye” view of the company’s IT capability.
Techstack
When working on the design, we paid special attention to the dependencies and connections between the capabilities. The layout had to be representative, intuitive and UI/UX friendly at the same time.
Sitecraft created two main views: general “tree” view and “timeline” view. The tree view allowed to see the overall picture whereas the timeline view gave more detail on a particular technology or application. We created a custom Angular-based library to ensure a smooth performance of the tree-view data rendering.
Main features:
- Lifecycle: when a capability was onboarded for the first time, its current support status, and when it is scheduled to deprecate.
- Description: what it is for and what functions it bears.
- Ownership: who is responsible for the capability/platform and how to contact them.
- Dependencies: how a given capability/platform or app connects to other services or capabilities and how they affect each other.
- Different metrics available: KPIs, load, SLA etc.
Last but not least, a powerful search and filter engine has been developed and integrated into the platform so that users can easily find their way around and, if needed, share the results with others.
